Information & Communication Centre

The Information Section, presently renamed as Information and Communication Centre, was established in the year 1962. Four issues of quarterly Odia farm magazine “Chasira Sansar” were published during the year. One special issue of the magazine was published on the occasion of University Foundation Day. Scientific articles on agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, agricultural engineering, pisciculture, community science, agro-forestry, success stories and rural development topics were published in these issues for the benefit of farming community and grassroot level extension functionaries. The newsletter of the University was published by covering important activities, events and achievements. The University Press took up a number of single colour and multi-colour printing works of the University as well as its constituent colleges, establishments, schemes, projects and KVKs.

Different audio-visual aids were prepared and displayed during farmer’s fair-cum-exhibitions and various University functions. During the period under report, the audio visual system was appropriately utilized for several occasions.

Regular dispatch of news snippets to mass media agencies like All India Radio, Doordarshan, private TV channels and News papers were made on the research findings of the University for dissemination to the farming community. Monthly advisories on agriculture and allied areas have been published in Odia daily. Arrangements were made for broadcast and telecast of various topics for farm and home programme of All India Radio, Cuttack and Pallishree programme of Doordarshan Kendra, Bhubaneswar, respectively.

The centre has supported organization of Regional level, State level and National level Exhibitions in agriculture & allied areas with support from KVKs, colleges, research stations and AICRPs of the University for the benefit of the farmers, grassroot level extension personnel and NGO members.

The centre has facilitated media coverage of events and important activities of the University. The e-paper news clippings on coverage of important events, activities, etc. relating to agriculture & allied areas were sent to various offices of the University headquarters and research & extension establishments.
