About College

The College of Agriculture, OUAT, Bhubaneswar,the esteemed institution has been serving in the state of Odisha and the nation for more than six decades.When India was striving hard to strife forward impressively, the idealistic, quixotic and utopian leader late Mr. Biju Pattnaik spear- headed the drive for establishment of the state Agriculture College, which finally reached culmination on 2nd May 1954 with laying of foundation stone for Utkal Krishi Mahavidyalaya now the college of Agriculture at Bhubaneswar, by Mr. Rafi Ahmed Kidwai, the then union Minister for Food and Agriculture, Government of India.The college started functioning in 1954 under the administrative control of the State Government and affiliated to the Utkal University. It came to the administrative control of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology located at State Capital, Bhubaneswar in the year 1962.

The primary function of the College of Agriculture, Bhubaneswar is teaching at the UG,PG and Ph.D. level leading to B.Sc. (Hons.) Agri.,M.Sc.(Ag.) and Ph.D. degrees. The college first functioned with only 32 UG students on roll under B.Sc. (Ag) programme and subsequently the intake capacity went up progressively up to 211 students at present under UG programme, 195 students under Masters’ Programme and 50 students in Ph.D., Programme to meet the technical manpower requirement of the state.
