College of Horticulture, Chiplima is the first Undergraduate Horticulture College in the state of Odisha offering degree in B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture. It was established in the year 2008 at Chiplima, Sambalpur with financial support from “Western Odisha Development Council” for intake of 24 students. With due course of time there was demand of horticulture graduates in the state and consequent upon which Govt of Odisha increased the student strength from 24 to 48 during 2010-11. Further, the strength was increased to 60 from 2018-19 academic year. This Educational institution of OUAT works with a triple mandate of teaching, research and extension for overall development of horticulture.

Objectives

• Providing skilled horticulture professionals for boosting horticultural productivity in the state as well as the country.
• Strengthening research work on issues faced by farmers in horticultural crop production and improvement.
• Imparting technical knowhow to different beneficiaries on recent technological developments in horticulture.
• Developing entrepreneurs in the field of Horticulture and allied fields with respect to crop production and value addition.
