College of Horticulture, Chiplima is the first Undergraduate Horticulture College in the state of Odisha offering degree in B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture. It was established in the year 2008 at Chiplima, Sambalpur with financial support from “Western Odisha Development Council” for intake of 24 students. With due course of time there was demand of horticulture graduates in the state and consequent upon which Govt of Odisha increased the student strength from 24 to 48 during 2010-11. Further, the strength was increased to 60 from 2018-19 academic year. This Educational institution of OUAT works with a triple mandate of teaching, research and extension for overall development of horticulture.

The College has produced 486 numbers of graduates in 11 batches and 4 batches of students are now enrolled. The students of this college have established their academic prowess in ICAR Junior Research Fellow and National Talent Search examination, and many showed their professional prowess as scientists in ICAR Institutions, Assistant professor in various State Agricultural Universities, Central Universities, various State government posts such as Assistant Horticulture Officer, Assistant Soil Conservation Officer and Assistant Agriculture officer. Apart from these many are engaged in Food Corporation of India (FCI), central ware house corporation Nationalised banks, National Highway Authority of India, Non Governmental Organizations, horticulturists in Private companies like TATA and other private sectors. The students of this college have excelled in Inter University Sports and Cultural Events like Agri Unifest.
