About

The College of Agriculture, Bhawanipatna is one of the constituent Agriculture College of OUAT established in 2009. The foundation stone was laid on 7th Feb, 2009 by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha Sj. Naveen Pattanaik. The College started functioning in its new building since 2015. The college is spread over an area of 40.66 ac including 16.1 ac of instructional farm area. The college is strategically located on Raipur Highway and adjacent to the Bhawanipatna Municipality.

The college provides 4 year Bachelor’s degree in B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture with 3 year of course programme and one year of student READY programme. Every year students are admitted on the basis of ranking in the Common Entrance Test conducted by OUAT and students from different states are admitted through ICAR All India Entrance Examination for admission to Agriculture.

The institution has created lovely gardens, decorative lawns, and a rosarium that contribute to overall aesthetics of the campus and improve the educational experience. Instructional farms are used to give students practical experience on different agricultural and horticultural crops. For conducting various horticultural activities, the institute has additional mango, guava, banana, aonla, and custard apple demo orchards.

Students are trained year-round in the creation of quality planting materials on various horticultural crops and hi-tech vegetables growing in the shade net house. The students are also trained in plant propagation methods, crop production methods and mushroom production at the educational farm. The passion and accomplishments of the students over the years, along with the devotion, commitment and loyalty of the teaching and non-teaching personnel have greatly aided in positioning the college where it is now.

Achievements:
  • The students of this college have excelled in ICAR JRF and NTS examination. During last seven years 37 students bagged the ICAR PG scholarship and 82 students have been selected for ICAR-NTS.
  • 274 numbers of students have been selected to pursue higher studies in State Agricultural Universities, Central Agricultural Universities and Deemed to be Universities across the country.
  • Ninety-five students from this college have been qualified in UPSC, Odisha Civil Service & Odisha Forest Service, appointed in Department of Agriculture & farmers’ Empowerment, Govt. of Odisha, State Agricultural Universities etc.
