Regional Research and Technology Transfer Station (RRTTS), Ranital was established to cater the location specific agricultural research needs of North Eastern Coastal Plain Agro-climatic zone of Odisha. Besides, technology development, standardization and validation, this station is also up-scaling frontier technologies through convergence with KVKs, line departments and other extension agencies This Coastal Plain Zone covers the entire district of Bhadrak and Balasore, eight blocks of Jajpur district and two blocks of Anandpur sub-division of Keonjhar district. Six different types of agro ecological situations exist in this zone covering an area of 8.85 lakh hectares which is about 6.1 per cent of the total area of the state.
