- RRTTS, Mahisapat, Dhenkanal was established in the year 1990 to cater the location specific agricultural research needs of Mid-Central Table Land agro-climatic Zone of Odisha covering the entire district of Dhenkanal, Angul and parts of Cuttack and Jajpur.
- This institute is situated at the district headquarter of Dhenkanal at 20.62˚ North latitudes and 85.59˚ East longitude.
- Gramin Krushi Mousam Sewa (GKMS) was sanctioned during the year 2008 and started functioning at RRTTS, Mahisapat in the year of 2010.
- All India Co-ordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Sesame operated at the headquarter of OUAT was shifted to RRTTS, Mahisapat in 2017.
- The institute encompasses a total of 10.1 ha land of which 4.6 ha is cultivable, 2.6 ha is under roads, civil constructions and demonstration units, 0.8 ha pond area and 2.1 ha uncultivable fallow land.
- Basic, adoptive and need based zone specific research to meet the problems of the farmers of the Zone.
- Innovation/ modification of eco-friendly technology specific to this Zone.
- Development of Sesame varieties with high yield, high oil content, early maturity, resistant to shattering, Macrophomina stem and root rot, Alternaria leaf spot, Phytopthera blight and Antigastra.
- Development of technology for Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Integrated Nutrient Management (INM), Integrated Weed Management (IWM) and Cropping-System (CS) for important crops of the Zone.
- Production and distribution of quality seed for the farmers of the Zone.
- Capacity building of field functionaries and dissemination of agro advisories.
- Preparation of Agromet Advisory Bulletin and transmission to the line department, KVK and the farming community of the zone through GKMS, Mahisapat.
