Department of Forest Products and Utilisation started in the year 2010 with an aim to offer the courses of B.Sc. Forestry Program as per ICAR syllabus and to provide Post graduate programe in M.Sc. Forestry (Forest Products and Utilisation). Odisha has Forest cover of 52, 156 sq km which is 33.50 % of its geographical area having well stocked, diverse, multi-storied and dense forest with rich diversity in Forest Products .As resource assessment, evaluation and utilisation of forest products are essential for their sustainable use, the department take care of the requirement of education, research and human resource development of this field with the following mandates and area of work .

• Development of technologies and skilled manpower in areas of forest products
• Assessment, scientific harvesting and product development of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP) of Odisha
• Evaluation of important wood species for wood characteristics for their sustainable and economic use.
